Black + White to Color

For this project, I used Adobe Photoshop to transform a portrait of myself into a black and white image and then color it using masking and selection tools. After converting the image to black and white, I created three different versions of the portrait by applying color harmonies from the Adobe Color Wheel: complementary, triad, and squareBy using different color harmonies, I was able to see how color can influence the overall feeling of an image while keeping the composition visually balanced.

Using Photoshop’s masking and selection techniques, I was able to apply color precisely to specific areas. I also incorporated my butterfly “JP” logo using the tag brush I previously created, which helped maintain a consistent personal brand throughout my projects. This assignment helped me further develop my skills in Photoshop while experimenting with color theory and digital editing techniques.
